Tom Tomorrow (Dan Perkins) is the creator of the award-winning weekly cartoon of social and political satire, This Modern World, which appears regularly in approximately 150 papers across the country. His work has been featured in the New York Times, Spin, Mother Jones, The Nation ,US News & World Report., Esquire , The Economist, The New Yorker, and numerous other publications. In 1998, he won the first place Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award for Cartooning. He has also been awarded the Media Alliance Meritorious Achievement Award for Excellence in Journalism, the Society of Professional Journalists' James Madison Freedom of Information award, the Professional Freedom and Responsibility Award from the national Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication, and the Aaronsen Award for Social Justice Commentary. He has five cartoon anthologies currently in print (Greetings From This Modern World , Tune in Tomorrow and The Wrath of Sparky, Penguin Soup for the Soul, and When Penguins Attack, all from St. Martin's). His sixth book, an oversized treasury/career retrospective, will be released in the Spring of 2003.
